I so agree with Blayke. Nomad background is now based on melee and health
recovery skills. Cavaliers, squires etc where nice addition I must admit. BUT
I would really like to see elven archers, troll axe throwers (yes, like in
wow) and gnomes with their wondrous muskets and pistols. Reloading etc could
balance the throwing/shooting ability. Yet i'm totally against the idea of
throwing from one room to another, that's just ridiculous. Bring us the
backrow nomads!

Maybe it has been just too long since I was a player, but what does it really
matter if these nifty guilds are in nomad's? Are you saying you would enjoy
thinking, my guy is of nomad background and I get to do this new stuff, or
that you want to combine these new nifty cool flavorful guilds with existing
"boring" nomad guilds?

Don't get me wrong, I too think it would be nice to spice up the background or
at least change something, perhas ps anything, but mostly I want to do it for
consistency. The background has only 3 guilds while others have many more.
But from a player point of view, I dont see why one who wants to be a tiger,
or loc then just be an loc... if you take the same guild concept and throw
some text on it to make it sound like a nomad guild, then I guess you made
some flavor, but it is the same as just letting nomad's join loc or reaver, or
mage etc.

I guess I am just viewing this from too much of a mathmatical viewpoint and I
am forgetting about the fun factor of having some character to identify with
(which goes back to my first sentence)

With respect Duke archers and axe throwers are complete new concept here. They
are not like those lords of chaos with their soul sucking blades or those
stalking black tiger brotherhood assassins. I think ranged missile/throwing
attacks are not jus flavour you can find in the batmud already. Yet my idea is
just a raw desire with no real how-to-implement suggestions on it.

With respect, I too shall disagree. Ultimately a ranged missile/throwing
attack is just a way to do damage from the back row of the party. (Unless you
mean ranged across rooms which has already been deemed unworkable). Once it
is established that the net effect of an archer or axe thrower is doing damage
from the back row, then how can it be anything else other than flavor? That
being said, everything is flavor in a way as the only difference between a
mage d casting a damage spell and a warrior using an offensive skill (aside
from various numerical statistics) is the flavor. Flavor is not a bad thing,
so obviously any discussion of a new guild will be largely about flavor with a
small components involving new game mechanics. An archer might use arrows, so
he would have the concept of ammo introduced upon him. Not tremendously
different from spell reagents but it is a neat possibility. Hmm actually it
might be a fun idea really, more later :)
