I really dont see why this thread has gone on for so long. It seems that
Huppus point is that boons are A) overly powerful and B) Unattainable for the
average player, and thus C) should be tuned. This basically boils down to the
point of boons being unfair. Waah! There are lots of unfair things in this
game besides boons. For instance, asmodeus has a rocking ring and once was
very very easy. Older players got a buncha of asmo rings, and then the mob
was tuned and made near impossible, and now those older players have a huge
advantage over newer, asmoringless newbies. WAH!! Lets remove all asmo rings!
You cant get narcuul shards, but a few players have em, WAH! lets remove all
narcul shards! Another case in point: when we were crashing all the time , a
crash hit right as i unchested and i lost a 300m set (all 3 of my asmo rings a
storm axe, etc.) I asked an arch for a restore but was denied. A friend of
mine also lost his eq in a similiar fashion and got his eq restored. Was this
unfair? Yes. Did it stop me from playing or rocking? No. I got off my ass and
started doing eq again, in fact. Unfairness FORCES you to adapt, and i just
dont think thats something being unfair is by itself a valid execuse for
removeing or tuning. Now, about boons, boons are NOT required to make any
guild combo here or required to kill any eq mob in the game that i can think
of (kizar is a special case in which you have a point, because you cant use eq
for kizar, making booned players have an advantage...still he is killable with
right resists as unbooned mage for certain). What boons allow you to do imho
is to make a combo guild that is effective for both eq and exp. For istance
sabre/bard/channeler. Unbooned, would prolly rock for exp ...with boons can
be eqable and expable. So boons imho basically expand yer options.
