I for one really prefer the interesting tunes to races then merely fuddling
with their stats. It makes the game more challenging to minmax, and adds a
"style" to the mud which was sadly lacking in the earlier days. I hope soon
that most races will have something that sets it apart from the others merely
than having N more strength and such. In the similiar vien, i think the race
guilds were a superb addition, though i wish a bit more useful thought went
into the skills so some interesting combinations could be made. I have a few
points id like to make on this subject tho: 1) I feel race tunes should be
made so that you dont need tons of boons to take them to eq. This directly
affects cyclops,wolfman,and giant. When was the last time you saw any of
these races tanking eq? That stupid flee thing is lame, and if a tank takes
double damage from a lava blast or golden arrow, then hes just fucking
useless. Character should applied with "style" not with a heavy hand that
makes a race useless for anything but newbie expers. 2) And yes, i know this
point has been made b4 but i think it would be a HUGE addition to this game if
someone could finally code a realistic modification to exprate/stats for races
that arent in the "recommended" categories. Ie, we have no elf fighters. Are
we saying that elfs just dont make fighters? Right now the game is set for
"caster races, tank races." Id be nice to expand the idea so that one can
play an elf fighter, even, god forbid, a duck fighter!! DUCK BARBARIAN!! What
makes batmud so absolutely addictively fun is the wide selection of choices
that this wonderful, awesome gives us....
