Over the last week or so, I have gotten a lot of questions/comments/CAPSLOCKS
FLAMES about "this monster can't see invis, but I was invis and it saw me".
Now besides the obvious oxymoron involved there (the irony seemed to be lost
on everyone else...odd) it made me wonder...how did they know, or more
correctly, how did they think they knew? I mean, monsters have a lot of
randomness to them. Sometimes a monster will start tracking when it's never
done that before. Sometimes they have a box. Sometimes they go turbo. And yes,
sometimes they start hearing/smelling/psychically sensing invis players and
attack them. Also, just like the other examples, a coder can deliberately
override this, but with your average generic monster, they oftentimes don't
bother.
So stop asking me that. It's random, it's normal, and it's been that way since
at least 1994, if not earlier.
