Wow. There's a bunch of great ideas spinning around. Most of what I've been
thinking has been hit upon in channel/news already. Also, the change to
backgrounds/guilds kind of throw's some of the things I've been thinking for a
loop..I was looking at how it fit into the mud AS IS.
One of the things being kicked around is the realism of archers in front row.
Irrelevant. Bat Logic is not real world logic.
If you really want to argue it for it, you'd also have to argue that the range
on a longbow would allow you to stand several rooms away(outerworld) and 1
room away indoors(usually) and shoot the mob.
Guild skills cost too much. Not by a helluva lot, but some trimming there is
in line.(I believe shinarae mentioned this anyway.)
Should be able to check guild rep. Maybe a skill (You analyze the goblin and
feel reasonably confident in your ability to smite it)..
I like the 'loaded weapon' idea. multiple commands..'load crossbow with blah'
'load and bolt burst blah shoot blah' 'use bolt burst at blah shoot blah'
would be cool and manageable. with ability to break ambush, would be too
powerful from front row tho. However, if you allow a crap % chance of hop back
working during the number of rounds you would have been ambushed for, it might
take the edge off. Also, raising ep cost from firing a preloaded bow, or
giving ep cost to loading bow, would trim it down also. This would mainly
prevent solo abuse, don't know how it would affect parties.
There's more, but it's been a long day and I need sleepy time.
