An alchie invention, arrows of torture (which also includes bolts of torture,
but not bullets of torture) do full normal damage, but also do lingering
damage, kind of like wither flesh. This lingering damage stops after a set
time, based on the damage the potion would do (i.e. a "chill touch" cold arrow
of torture will wear off faster than a "darkfire" cold arrow of torture). It
also stops when the target is out of combat. An arrow of torture can only be
used once.
In addition to lingering damage, the arrow also has a small chance to cause a
side-effect, based on the damage type of the arrow. For example, physdam
arrows of torture are barbed, lodging in the muscle of the victim and limiting
their motions, and as such, can break skills. Mana damage arrows of torture
drain sp from the target, acid ones make scars, and fire makes the victim run
around going WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. The chance of a side effect per round is
small, so use the bigger potions for a better shot at having it happen.
