I went into this test as a reincaholic, with a personal goal to see if this is
a friendly guild for someone with 50-60M totals. I believe it is.
But we seriously need something to carry the ammo in...an autoload guild item
that helps with the weight of the ammo would be optimal, but any old quiver
will do(give it the same functionality of the backpacks and sacks you find on
mobs, but ammo only, with a bit of weight reduction).
I wouldn't go in as a front row slinger just because hauling more that 20
bullets KILLS my dodge.
Also, a way to store arrows on various continents would prevent you from
hauling ass back to your room to pick more up. Lets say the guild trainers
will save 20 of one type of ammo that you give them until you ask for them.
Shield size should matter when it comes to popping off baddies. I haven't
tested to see if that's the way it is, but it should be.
Arrow of torture..cool, but expensive. Definitely something I would seriously
need before i purchase and use.
If stunning shot were more effective, especially if you weren't using hop
back, then I could see a real use for low total backrow archers.
Boon clearability would be nice, as would a chart on cost totals for boon.
A way to check your lowp mastery, or messages every 10% of improvement, or
both.
Archery contest...something similiar to bodor's, but Archers Only!
Ok, so:
-- stunning shot needs higher effect
-- way to clear archery boons every so often
-- more details on the location of weak points
-- ammo weight
-- take a look at dex vs. hit/damage of archery skills
-- maybe lower the highbie/lowbie gap in the guild
-- a guild quest to make/improve an existing bow
These all sound like things I can work on. As for ammo on different
continents, perhaps the various cities should have ammo shops, both
player-made and generic?
Things I would really rather not do:
-- _require_ that archery weapons use 2 hands. I'd rather either leave it the
way it is (unrealistic as it seems) or else have a switch weapon % involved.
-- not give alchies throwing weapons. I know some of you don't remember way
back before the conversion of 1996 when alchies made flasks of fire and
gunpowder and threw them in combat, but they were actually pretty effective
and popular. I'm going to let them do it again. I might _also_ give the skill
to archers, but in roughly the same way I'll give bow skills to rangers (i.e.
without mastery).
-- admit that newbie druids suck. I was a newbie druid for what felt like
forever, and I ruled, dammit!
A word about shields: at this time, each shield you wield gives you a percent
cover, based on your size and shield size. It's typically between 50 and 80.
That's what's used when someone shoots at you. Since there is concern,
however, I'll verify that it's working the way I intended. Incidentally, the
shield block arrow %chance is awfully high because (a) I like shields and (b)
barely any monster ever uses them.
By making bows/crossbows 2h you place an emphasis on the need to train sling
skills so that when using shields slings (not sling shots) become weapons of
choice. Sorry to beat on this a bit, I feel strongly about it.
