Realizing this has been suggested before, a couple of times, I'm yet venturing
another stabb at the idea.
Would you give us a command to hide specific secret society items? This would
reduce spam, making it easier to find relevant information when looking at
someone (news display ideas-wanted 6796). In this way one could also choose to
display the key societies one belongs to, instead of just listing all spoons
and filmreels that come with different hobby-channels one has subscribed to.

Hiding guild items is a privilege reserved for one very specific, very special
guild.

Take a guess as to what that guild is. Go on. Guess. I dare you.

Okay. And now that we've had the obligatory smart-ass comment, I would very
much like to see a serious stance on the idea. So far I've heard, through
conversations with wizards, that there's been comments against it in the line
of "if you don't want the item, don't join the society". I doubt people join
fishing+ to get a fancy tackle. Well, some might, but my guess is that most of
them join because they want to talk about fishing. Not spam. And that is a
constructive a solution as "if you don't like crimsons, just don't reinc into
one Gaurhoth". Another comment I heard was "the society creators might get
offended by people hiding their ss-item". This one I fail to understand
completely. It's up to the creator (and guild masters) to invite whoever they
want. And leave whoever they want without an invitation. If they get offended
by something you do (still failing to see how someone would get offended by me
hiding their neatly designed and payed for item) they can just kick you later.
So where's the rub? Really?

Either you are:

a) trying to make a smartass comment about a completely reasonable idea (and
ending up making yourself look stupid/ignorant)

b) having problems reading posts (again making yourself look stupid)

Cran stated in several ways that he was talking about SECRET societies, not
regular guilds.

Read the posts clearly and think for a second before responding. Go on. Do it.
I dare you.
