Just a thought:
Rangers got all these nifty little skills that are completely and utterly
useless - could we give then a small boost: Rangers got birds of their own,
right? So they must be good at taming birds. Perhaps the ranger could use
his/hers bird to call upon its bigger cousins to help him travel via the
skies. You could take all those telescopes, forest locations, loc mems,
camouflages and all that stuff away, and give us skills to control the
birds.
If you're a full ranger, you might be able to call upon a huge eagle
that could take you from oen continent to another. Usable only certain
times per day/depending on your skills/something like that.
Perhaps even if you'd send your tweedy-bird up in the skies, it could
scout a good and easy path for you and your party, lowering your ep-costs.
Adjacent to the skill 'Pathfinding'.

location, and location memory more and more on the continents to find my way
around. I do agree that something with animals would be nice and I do like you
idea baout the birds, but not all ranger skills are ueless. Most are not used
though.

Can you call a huge eagle to bring you from continent to continent? Well, if
you're a beastmaster, you can tame some large winged beast (drakes are
popular) and fly from place to place. Peraps later there will be more variety
of mounts, the different continents' themes certainly make that plausible. But
the idea is already in place.
