Here's an idea. The rationale behind the Inns whent somewhere along the lines
of "makes you a true traveler of the world, allowing you to have long (over
boot) adventures away from home (your start location)." Now take Rangers for
example. They are wanderers of the wilderness. They should be able to make
their "pit stops" in the wild. Add an option to camping: "use camping at quit"
starts the skill, and once completed saves you and your equipment in the
location you are in. Why the skill camping? It is widely available to a lot of
different guilds and backgrounds (hell, with the new Bruce guild, it's more or
less available to everyone - hope I'm not making a fool of myself - the guild
gets the skill, right?).

Restrict the skill so that with higher skill % and higer mastery (of camping)
you can camp in more "difficult locations". A nomad with the 10 (15?) % from
his or her background can camp on plains. A druid with 50% (?) can camp in the
forest. A ranger with 100% skill and 100% mastery can make a camp in the
swamps.

Would be really cool if player cities had a "rent-room" that could be
purchased. In this rent room, players can enter room, go ld, and their
inventory would be preserved over boot (eq and items, naturally). This
would give the world a more connected feel, where a traveler can wander
the continents, and travel from inn to inn in each pcity. Of course, this
would cost money, as anything does. Maybe a minimum cost, and extra cost
based on the city owner and taxes. When the reboot happens, the player will
reappear in the rent room they left off last, rather than their start
location. Also, big cities would have this module as well...it would be
another way of encouraging player-cities to be located in more remote places.
As a throwback to the classical rpg, to me it sounds really cool to be a
traveler who perhaps has a hometown, but lives on the road, wandering
from city to city and having adventures.

Just make it easier for everyone and implement inventories that always save
while going ld without complicating it, now thats more necessary than ever -
with this new big world, which i like pretty much (and yes nomads or navless
newbies are royally fucked up when they\'re in furnachia swamp and RL event
pops out).

And while at it make events not screw ld players, I understand this was done to
avoid abuse by ld-escaping those events, but sometimes cure is way worse than
cause.

As a related idea, it would be fun if ships could support startlocs, chestrooms
and guardrooms like cities, thus reducing the binding between player and his
native continent, which is a bit annoying atm.
