Parts of this has been suggested before, this is perhaps an elaboration of how
it could be made more player friendly. Give walk (E, S, W, N etc.) a list of
parameters you can set. More the parameters should specify what makes you stop
walking in that direction. One parameter would be number of moves (default at
20 as is now). Another parameter would be "change of terrain type". Third
parameter would be crossings (annoying to follow a road leading east that
turns north, and you have to type "E; E; N" instead of just "E; N" since it
stops in the room before the crossing). Fourth parameter would be bridges (I
don't wanna stop at a bridge when running along a straight road).
This would make outerworld travel tremedeously more smooth and convenient. I
know I can still make macros to run me from one place to another,
circumventing these problems - but wasn't the point not to force players to
use these automated travel scripts (get a feel of the distance and all that)?
Oh, came up with a fifth obvious parameter: endurance points run out.
