So I've been thinking a lot over the past few months about the reasons why I
don't mud as much as I used to. I don't play WoW or any other MMORPG, and,
honsetly, have little to no interest in them. My first and only love over the
past 12 years or so has been BatMUD. I have enjoyed playing all of these
years, after first being introduced by tackle. And, yes, I have taken breaks
(some significant) over the years as life has pulled me in different
directions.

But now the summer is here and I have a few more hours every week to spend
time learning more about this game... a game I know I have only scratched the
surface of. The one thing that I keep coming back to in my head as a reason
for NOT playing this game involves one big issue that has been brought up in
news posts previously: the challenge of getting BACK home to chest/quit at the
end of the day.

Being the old fart that I am, I often don't have the luxury of blocking out
hours upon hours of time to play. Sometimes I do have a lot of time, but I
don't know when I'll have to leave. A lot of time I'm at work playing over
lunch, but need to be called away.

The point is, it's not the traveling TO a destination I find difficult to deal
with. I actually have found it is nice to conciously choose where and how I
want to explore and play for that period. But if shit hits the fan and I need
to quit for the day, taking the time to get back and close up the session so
that I don't lose any of the stuff I've worked long and hard for is sometimes
challenging to downright impossible.

Hence, I would like to second any option to allow for players a once or twice
a day option to get back to startloc or wherever else in a very short time.
This can cost gold, it can cause HP/SP/EP to be reduced to 1, whatever. Point
being, I'm willing to make a tradeoff.

Right now I'm just too damned afraid of playing the game for fear of losing
stuff and that sucks. This game is great and has a lot of potential. I love
the people. I love the areas and I love the creativity. But weighing the
options of either playing knowing I may need to leave quickly, or not
playing/idling and making sure my stuff is OK for when I do have time to set
aside, I'm goign to choose the latter. Maybe it doesn't make sense and I know
this post is way too long. Anyway, I care about this place and it is the only
reason I'm mentioning it again.

I can honestly sympathize with you ONLY if you are a nomad (i was in my
previous reinc) and your stuck on furnachia. That place SUCKS. There needs
to be an option to \"transport startloc\" at the City portals like there is at
player city portals. If you get stuck on furnachia and you need to go shortly,
and you dont have navs, you are pretty much up shit creek without a paddle.

On the other hand, you are a very experienced player who has been in multiple
reincs so I am kinda surprised at your post. I mean, theres TONS of tank like
reincs you can go other than nomad that give you access to navs. If you got
navs + a chest command you can log off this game in about 3 seconds. THere is
also eq in the game, for instance teleport scrolls, sanctuary rings, other more
rare stuff, even potions, that give you the ability to get home very quickly
from just about anywhere. I think theres plenty available when you combine
the power of \"transport startloc\" from player city portals..usually on most
continents besides furnachia a player city isnt too far from where you are
that even playing nomads is ok.

Anyways, just my 2cents

As far as I know, there are inns on every continent, that allow you to store
your eq and inventory for a nominal price. And they aren't very hard to find.

Also, they are a pcity module, so they should be around plenty.

Problem is furnanchia has no pcities, so there are no inns there, nor any
portals.
Still, there are fast ways out, one is the ship teleportation chamber, other
is teleport without error potion, then there are the wanderer summons,
probably other means to get out fast aswell.

You're a few months too late in posting this, we did the whole
"this travel tune sucks" thing back when it was first implemented
