the title of the post, it seemed like he was talking about save items (which
occur in box, chest, and safe forms).

and the loot that is in those?

Gah. What a horrid coincidence that there are save items that store books and
coins, and those are the things you get out of random dropped boxes!

Fine fine. To categorize the possible answers:
-- if you mean 'items that we carry around that store multiple things'
generally speaking, those apply to things made by mortals. Scrolls are, at
this time, not made by mortals. However the idea isn't completely impossible
either.
-- if you mean save items in your chest room that you don't carry around,
already the "specialty" ones cause a lot of bugs. I'm not keen on making
others.
-- if you mean the randomly dropped containers by monsters that have money,
commonly called "boxes", there has been occasional interest in making those
drop a wider variety of treasure items. Some coders in the past have expressed
a desire to do this, and they have generally been given the go-ahead. We
haven't seen anything yet, but it could happen. Remember those old D&D
treasure tables? Something like those.
