No offense but Ooga and Acidia having a discussion over ships is like Hitler
and Golda Mier having a conversation of jews---they both are kinda biased in
their prospective views. Personally I have been sunk , hmm about 5 times with
my class 5 and I can say that all times, it was entirely my fault, in that i
didn't secure my ship after i finished sailing to a harbor. That being said
there is NOTHING more irritating to hit your paths command, go make a cup of
coffee, and come back to see Shar laughing at you as your ship sinks. And the
most annoying thing is that the fucking ship is like, 2 fucking moves from
Arelium harbor. I think the idea of extending protective zones out from the
harbors is very good cause ill bet most of the ships that have been sunk have
been sunk the same way as I was, that is just forgetting to add an *secure
command at the end of their paths. At least I often see pirate ships ramming
idle ships at the ends of harbor way points.

I think the MAJOR problem with the setup as it is now, is there is NO
disadvantage for pirates. Pirates can use all the same harbors as merchants
and navy. They are never hunted by the navy, because the navy are generally a
buncha noobies who spend their time wacking npc boats instead of hunting
ships. Also the pirates have very buffed ships, not only do they generally
spend more money on their ships but often they have wizard assited power ships
that would take 4-5 boats to kill. Thats just pretty unfair imho. I think
there should be some major disadvantages with being a pirate that go along
with the benefits. For one, you should DEFINITATELY not be able to use the
major pcity harbors. Also you should be attacked if you come near them, and
possibly sunk. That would add some balance to the system that, atm, is pretty
sadly lacking.

Thats my opinion anyways.

Hmm, are there disadvantages in any class? Mnavy can sink ANY pirate without
penalties, including npc ships, that's too suffeli and too much somewhat free
bonuses for mnavy, pirates get -rep for sinking too small npcs. Mnavy has
easiest rep if you don't wanna work for it, and even faster repgain than with
somewhat active pirate without rep multiplier from other classes. Mnavy should
only be able to attack pirate ships with fighting flag or gain penalties for
attacking non-fighting one. Pirates are free prey to everybody, navy,mnavy and
other pirates, mnavy tho only has possible attackers from pirates, doesn't
that mean that pirate has more disadvantages than mnavy does? Yeah, I agree on
the part where major pcity ports should fire at fighting pirate ships, but
what the hell is that safe zone around them you are talking about, aren't the
harbours safe already? You have tradelanes already, pirates can't just stalk
on them and sink anything that travels them like they should, there might be
faster pirate vessels than yours are but we still can't pursue/it's very hard
to pursue you on tradelane so isn't that enough safe zones anyway?
