Ordinary clothing plays a minor role in BatMUD. That is pretty boring as there
are plenty of rather original pieces of clothing to be found in this game -
and nobody ever uses them. In addition to that, there is a skill, 'sewing' to
make new clothing, which nobody uses except for a merchant material mastery.
Usually(?) clothing has no other statistics but charisma - and that benefit
becomes useless as soon as the equipment is worn over the clothing. Charisma
is a minor stat in BatMUD and "real" equipment doesn't usually have +cha. So,
it wouldn't break the balance even if it was possible to stack up those
bonuses.
So, how about making the clothing a little bit more interesting and changing
the order in which it is worn on? The clothing should be worn over the
equipment - not the other way around as it is now. It would be nice to be able
to show people just the cool/funny/whatever clothing and not the actual
equipment one is wearing.
Most of the people would still not hide their equipment with clothing as
swapping the set would become cumbersome but there should be option to that.
