They should be tuned, except make it easier to find! If more people get them,
the value goes down! Simple economics!

yes, making them personal does sound good, also, hiring them should be
personal too, not for those who have the fastest links to get them trainers
first and then selling them for profit...

From what I observe, it is already the case that they are personal in the
sense that any player at one of the crew hiring places who types 'list' and
gets a trainer special is the only one allowed to hire it, and every player
who checks has a chance of getting one.

Ens is right, and the way it is done is by temporary transfer of ship
ownership. However I fail to see the real problem. If one trainer pops for
player A, and yes it is for him only, and he decides to forfeit it to player B
whether for cash or otherwise, what is the problem? It's a transferrable
commodity (under the current system) and therefore it should have value.

Yes, because once one person gets a trainer it puts a kibosh on it for
everybody else that day!
</sarcasm>
Seriously, whats wrong with people selling trainers in that way?
If you want a trainer, check every day, or pay somebody who does.
Or better yet, let special crew types be transferred from ship
to ship.
