From our side it is ofcourse great if our community implement
things that make playing more fun. On the other hand, we also
need to be careful that it isn't a "spoiler" site, e.g. that
it would undermine the work of our area developers by publishing
every secret that an area has.

In my opinion it would contain maps ( rooms and links between them) for areas,
but not the notes that people gather. That would make moving around an area
rather visible, but any secrets to finding keys or triggering exits opening
would be left out. Also since mapdata doesn't contain monsters, it would
hardly be a "safe" experience running unknown areas by public mapdata alone.
Basically, when using client the experience would be:
1) You enter an area you have never been into before
2) Your mapper displays a full map of the whole area, but without any notes or
knowledge of monsters, you still have to look around cautiosly. Some areas
would probably end up slightly spoiled, but many areas already are by existing
sites.
So no, every secret wouldn't be revealed by this, not even close. It would
make life easier for many people, probably, atleast any member of a guild
where they give you a roomdesc which you just have to figure out where it is.
And how would it work? well, integration with batclient would go through
batutils plugin. And for others, i guess there would have to be a website
which would allow seeing/searching the data. I guess some awesome way to view
maps like in the batutils would be nice to have as well.
