As im sure everyone agrees i think it is vital to retain any player who decides
to try out the game, there are far more muds out there than players nowadays.
I think the immortals have done a great job with dortlewall, the initial quests
are good, with some interesting touches but they are not frustrating.
And the crystite mines are easily the best newbie area ive seen in a mud so far
(and ive tried a lot of muds)
However we had a newbie on today, trying to improve his equipment etc and
unsure wether to play on as he could 'barely kill a pigeon'
So as i am newish myself and not able to kill eq npcs to kit him out i decided
to give him some basic crystite equipment to give him a taste of the stuff
there (and encourage him to explore the mines etc)
I was quite surprised to find i cant give that stuff away, or donate crystite
to newbies.
I can sort of understand why immortals are worried the expensive stuff may be
sold for cash, but i dont think it would happen with the level limit on using
the crystite.
Could immortals consider at least relaxing rules on giving away the cheaper
crystite items? (less than 11k items perhaps). The crystite is SUCH a good
idea for giving newbies a shot at decent equipment and this would help newbies
get a taste, and get them involved in earning more for themselves

I fully agree. It seems like there is a drop in numbers of people playing the
games as what it was 10 to 15 years ago.
