Could be an idea if merchants get a news skill added: will making. Players can
then leave their possessions and money to fellow players if they want. We
could call the skill 'Sprite's will' in her honour. The skill could work
similar to law skill
Ok well, thats a cool idea, but how would that work in practicality? Do you
seriously expect some arch to go sorting through a the eq and handing stuff
out? It can be hard to get the active wizzes to fix the critical bugs, they
are quite busy so I think its unlikely they will take the time to individually
sort some passed-on player's thousands of virtual items.
The better solution is for players to take into account their own mortality
and make some arrangements ahead of time for disbursement of their eq...
Well, I think the idea has merit and I don't see why there can not be an
automated way to do this and enrich the Batmud community.
To be honest i think it would be a rather nice touch, that a player can upon
their death bequeath selected items or even just a message.
It would be great to give a surprise goodbye gift, Or a "last laugh" to be
played out when one is gone to special players who meant so much during their
time in their Batmud Life)
(I'm sure that I am not the only one who would like the possibility to say
goodbye to some close MUD friends, who are not actually
everyday-IN-REAL-LIFE-friends, were my time to suddenly come to an end)
Something along these lines maybe...
1. Player 1 hires a merchant and meets the merchant at the law office
2. Player 1 purchases the appropriate and expensive set of papers.
3. "Merchant" completes the papers and gives to the player 1
4. Player 1 reads papers at appropriate item/armour/weapon ... ETC
5. (Some behind the scenes "magic" configuration is done regarding the item/eq,
player 1 and another (player 2)
6. Player 1 turns itself into an angel
7. Upon player 1 turning into angel script is run, checking if anything is
bequeathed to anyone, items are removed from the physical game and put in a
collection state, certain players get brownie mail requesting their presence in
the law office.
(at this point i would suggest that these items are "only valid to be removed"
if in a chest which is actually OWNED by the Player 1 or in the player 1
inventory)
8. Player 2 goes to the law office and "Hires a lawyer" to check for what is
there to be claimed
9. Player 2 is cries as his find out that after paying 50k to hire a lawyer, he
was left a sculpture with "SO LONG BIIIATCH" imprinted on it and NOT the rare
and un-getable eq he was expecting.
IMO , that kinda feature would be fitting and something probably unique to
Batmud !!
