Eye of loraen is useful, but its implementation and therefore use is clunky at
best. Here's some suggestions to clean it up. Much is about EP maintenance.
1. It already costs a good amount. Make it one of those skills that, if you
mess up your syntax, it doesn't drain the same amount of EP as if you had
successfully used it.
2. Don't have it cost EP to set the alert on or off. Instead, have that be
part of the cost to use the ability (though it may already be). Don't require
whole use of the skill for this: have some simple setting that is just on or
off. That way, you don't have to turn the alarm on or off every time you turn
the skill on or off. We're talking 4 uses for that, 90 EP and going on a
minute's time just to turn off, then on, then alarm on for one passive skill.
Or from beginning, 5 uses: on, alarm, off, on, alarm. Just make it a setting
that sticks. It's a great setting.
3. Make some sort of nice interface for the skill, some simple way to juggle
selected minerals, that doesn't involve deactivating and reactivating. As I
said, it already decreases your EP dramatically as you search (though is such
a wonderful skill), there's no need for all the extra steps. On or off.
4. Remove cost for turning skill off. I can see why they would do it, to
punish users for ending a skill that otherwise would decrease their EP while
they walk, but... well, why are you punishing users for not using? Is that
really the objective? Should it be?
I think that about covers my thoughts on the matter. I love the skill, just
wish it was not so clunky and requiring of juggling of itself when using. I
like how it doesn't expire or anything, that is nice.
