Ok, there has been some big tunes lately, that hit popular pieces of
equipment. Like the horrid downtune of Silver Battlesuit and Aegis shield. And
there are some claims that a wizard behind this is doing this to make his
mortal friends more powerfull. I just would like to know how did it make me
more powerfull that the Felidae shields I've managed to amass went from good
shield to use to dest set shields? How it made me any more powerfull that I
cannot feather weight the dest set suit (yes silver battlesuit is nice for
destset). I dont get your idea.
Also some old bugger got slight uptune and it has been killed few times after
that. Its old gear didn't get downtuned even if it got uptuned. Instead this
monster in question got a new piece of eq, which happens to be exellent
uppgrade to most of the players. Yes, I'm talking about the owner of too good
glass sword. Now he has too good caster belt aswell. But I'm amazed that the
people who have been asking for this notorious too good glass sword downtuned,
haven't even tried killing it and why is this? Because they cannot get parties
together for exploring it? Oh my, its so hard monster to get to that even lvl
1 player can get there with a bit of luck. And Felidae shield getting totally
screwed? NEWSFLASH it didn't, its still one of the better shield for any defs
as its lightest full shields around. And the reason why its damage was
downtuned, was to create diversity. Give you more opportunities to be a
smarter than your neighbourg and wield some other shield. GASP, now you
actually have to use your brains, instead of going with "the usual pick" for
shield you use.

So can you explain what is the idea behind that bamboo shield cant be the
"best" shield of the game since glass does not seem to matter with other
stuff? or could you tell how much time you should need to spend in those anal

I always thought 'laen' was this volcanic crystalic glass that is pure,
extremely durable, hard and almost indestructible... comparable to almost
diamond in structure. Even if this wouldn't be the exact case in this game its
kinda laughable to talk bamboo and laen as comparable materials.
What comes to this annoying spam about tmaker being OP (over powerful) I sort
of disagree. Why its widely used, is that its kinda fitting combination of
decent damage and light weight. There are weapons that beat it in damage but
then on the other hand weight more (just what the situation finally is in the
shields now). You don't even have to go to "ungettable"- category. Just some
weapon like Empyrean wipes the floor with it many times on higher grades (and
not even counting all specials Emppy has). Not to mention when fully upped.
For one example weapon that I always felt like way too undervalued is
Kraftigar. Damagewise almost the same as the infamous whined TM, weighs less,
smaller wep (fits to smaller races) and has nice fitting stats (str and hit).
Plus if you count how overrun mob that drops it THAT should be the center of
all this whining... pfft

I've been here, from year 1997. Seen equipment like Blood-drinker axe, Soth
maul, wands of magic, silver shimmering cloak, keeper lance(well due wield
fix), most of the spstorages and so forth tuned from a rocking piece eq to not
as great as they were. So I can tell from experience that some of the better
items tend to get tuned, I wasn't too surpriced that Silver Battlesuit got its
tune, but I admit that I wasn't expecting anything to get done to aegis. And
considering the amounts of time sacrificed to get my first aegis, it took us
something stupid like 10h and some other runs after that even more. So as we
grew more powerful and have been able to stomp monsters faster and faster,
things tend to get some stupidly long rape prot, monsters might get uptuned or
items might get downtuned. And some new pieces that aren't that regular sights
yet, will get this treatment at some point too.
And what these tunes have actually done to us? I guess, all you can do is to
adapt(and whine). Being able to adapt to new winds has been always the case
here. Rocking guilds get downtuned, remember spider guild, reaver guild and
highly abusable venom blade downtuned harsly? But why this is done? To keep
game intresting and balanced, I suppose. Or are you telling me that if topend
defs wear silver battlesuit that is meant to be a newbie/midbie armour, is in
some sort of balance? There will be downtunes and uptunes, there will be whine
and there will be arrogant and ignorant highbies whining at whiners. So you
think its ok that you are able to buy best shield in game for mere 3-4million
gold?

coded, new areas, new monsters or new quests, give you new options to

Ah problem is now that you can buy aegis from sales, so we are back in
question how much time people should invest to it make it ok for you? Since
everything can be bought here if you just pay enough, even those precious
torspos.
There was also plenty of diversity in shield options already, imo that aegis
was only best for kharim in offumode.People who wanted different things for
their reincs would use other shield. When i asked around what shield people
use/used i got plenty of other shields as answer like Inra shield, Dragon
rebel shield,Zyll shields,Asharu shield,Tyra shield, and Tiamat igor shield
Top damagedice had been there since creation of area, and no-one cared about
it, but after kharim guild it suddenly became issue. Point being could those
kind of issues fixed in kharim guild instead of tuning everything else? like
making the shield class or weapon material/weight to count in that diversively
boring passive code?
and for the record i havent unchested my aegis shield for 2 years and i got it
with points since otherwise it would have went to crapdice, my second one i
got because it actually went to crapdice. How does that suit to your have to

shield for defensive qualities, but I had the idea of developing a "shield
combat style" that would allow a player to wield a weapon and shield in
similar fashion they did in the ancient or the medieval world.
As described above in your text, people are now searching for shields based on
different qualities. Some look for shields for defensive qualities while
aegis for example had become one of the best for offensive tanks.
I have also been asked many times why didn't I give Kharim the chance to
make chaotic shields instead of swords, or if Kharim guild could make chaos
shields as well. The reason why I'm not very thrilled about this is very
simple. One of my goals was to create a new market for shields which were
given better offensive attributes than some other shields. Some might agree
that I have actually managed to create market value for some items that were
before the Kharim guild considered mainly crap despite their offensive
qualities.

compared to weapons and their primary usage has never been to deal top damage.
The reason why there is even any discussion about shields is of course the
Kharim guild.
Although Kharims are quite certainly a factor, I fail to see how this is
Kharim issue at all. I'm quite sure that the modification was made because
someone thought that the item's current value (because of Kharims) is too
good for the monster of that power level and not because this single item
would some how make the guild unbalanced.
If the attempt would be to downtune the guild, modifying a single item
would be silly since after aegis being downtuned, I'm pretty sure it
took a nanosecond for some other shield to make a leap to the top of
the heap. Next we should look and downtune that, and another after that..
So before this turns into "Problems in Kharim guild"-discussion, let's review
a few facts:
1) I'm not behind aegis tune and usually don't give a flying puck about any
single items when concentrating on guild balance.
2) I've always modified my Kharim shield system code when I've wanted to
downtune shield combat. Ask anybody if you don't believe me.
3) Despite how many times any stats or other qualities on items are shuffled,
there would always be those items that are the best in the game. If we take
my "diversively boring passive code" and make it take shield class,
material and wight into calculations, in the end we might probably see
that some item is best when using these attributes when calculating
values. So, how is that any different and less boring than my code
