A brief update on the BatMUD 30th anniversary gala and Vegascon 2020.

As you know, we had to postpone the 30th anniversary gala due to the covid-19
situation. It was and continues to be the right choice - both in terms of
managing health risks but also because travel logistics would have been next
to impossible to sort out at this stage.

We're closely monitoring the situation and evaluating when would be the right
time to reschedule the gala. Basically we are looking at 2 main factors:
- When is it safe to do so (when do case volumes stabilize, decrease and
governments lift restrictions on massgatherings and events)
- When will international travel resume

When both of these are in place we'll work on a date for the event, and will
then try to provide 2-3 months advance notice for everybody to organize
travels and vacations.


We are also monitoring the situation with regards to Vegascon 2020. It's too
early to tell what the pandemic situation will be in late July-early August,
but we hope to make a go/no-go decision in the first weeks of June. We still
have a venue reserved and paid for - but it makes no sense to proceed if it
puts people's health at risk or travel is impossible.


Lastly, we have also discussed about the possibility to provide more support
for local events if the local epidemic situation improves but international
travel remains difficult. That might help with some celebratory activities
during this anniversary year - but again, we'll only do so if it is safe
(see, archwizards really do care about you!).
