Imho that is VERY inappropriate reply, especially from an immortal. Personally
I do ignore Blackstar and think most of his posts really should be posted to
bs etc etc etc, but wishing someone dead has caused long bans for mortals
before.

I do like Favorit's work and do not like the "feedback" Blackstar gave, but
this is going too far.

Did it occur to you that the mortals writing the replies suggesting death were
flaming and if they were being sarcastic, they weren't doing it in a way that
was easily identifiable. I'm actually shocked as hell you didn't see the
sarcasm in that reply. It was funny. Some people just take this game too
seriously.

Well, actually I read out of his post that the mud is crowded with cities and
areas and that the new website colour is gay. :) Hence since neither of them
is reasonable (to certain extent, and Duke already gave a good and serious
answer on the part which could have used a serious answer) i gave this answer.
Group was flame, so i don't think everyone's expected to take flames serious?
I'd post something different if it was in ideas-wanted.

In any case, if I offended Blackstar and dragged him to sleepless depressive
nights thinking that I hired Ramon to come and get him RL, this is not the
case :)

Blackstar, hereby I apologize. This was meant as a joke.

well no harm done I supose, when I read your reply I quickly
dropped into a vast sea of depression, and drowned out my sorrows
in a bottle of liqour to compensate my self-esteme. In a drunken
fit I quit my job, then climbed to a rooftop only to scream how I was to
jump, but no one came. I jumped and am now paralyzed from the waste
down and have no use of my legs or penis. But I can still MUD =D
apology accepted of course =)

People can take flames seriously when they go to serious topics.

To quote Duke\'s post (flame 682) in similar case:

\'\'However, I do like to emphasize that statements along the lines of wishing death upon other people in RL will simply not be tolerated\'\'

and again, quote from Favorit\'s post (flame 681) in the same case:

\'\'One should know the difference between disappointment flames and personal insults I think.\'\'

As I read Favorit\'s reply to Blackstar (flame 1927), it is \"wishing death\" and \"personal insult\" as wishing death is the worst kind of insult there can be.

I\'m not sure, but I think Favorit would give a news ban or something if some mortal posted such flame about Favorit or some other wiz to this news group.

Noone was going to serious topics to begin with, until Juo made it look like a serious topic.

No problem. However \"dierlplskthx\" in exactly this spelling is not really the exact case of \"wishing death\" per se.

I\'m not sure why I even reply to this, but for the love of Pete, get a life, people.

Please specify (you have been so precise in article ids so far) the case where I issued a newban for something like that. (Or I\'ll take it as a personal insul, and go suicide imagining you have wished me dead).

Ok, first off, I think it\'s been established that anything along the lines of \"omgwtflolplz\" is a \"joke\" on batmud. Secondly, only quoting a reply to a flame is only giving half the story. Duke\'s reply to the flame in question was appropriate, IMO. For those of you who don\'t recall it:

Group: flame (#666/1935)
From: Wir (Lvl: 66 Age: 114d, 12h, 55min and 55s)
Subject: exptunes
Date: Fri Sep 19 15:14:26 2003

excuse me mr. duke, but could you please go fucking shoot yourself already, or
slit your throat, or wrists, or whatever. some people are trying to make exp
in this game. it\'s cool that i now get about 1/4 or less of the original/old
tune exp from monsters when in \"a lot\" tune. keep up the good work. really.

I think that\'s a bit more *serious* than Favorit\'s amusing little statement.

And on a side note, whoa, interesting rating.

Once again, you\'re looking at a \"reply\" and not the original message. Comparing what Favorite wrote in this newer case to what Wir wrote is useless because other than the fact they were both news posts and in flame newsgroup, they had *nothing* in common.

I\'m fairly damned certain anyone with the ability to give a newsban would see the humour in this and it wouldn\'t even occur to them to do so.

I find it quite lame that players stick their noses
into business which doesn't concern them and demand
punishment for newsposts that weren't directed at
them. If Blackstar has a problem with the reply he
got to his rather insolent newspost, then _he_ can
bring it up with an archwizard. The rest of you little
cretin have absolutely no say in the matter. End of
story.
