To add further to the "some of the quests have parts that need tweaking" issue
I've been dealing with and the "some of the quests are bugging entirely" that
Era has been dealing with: There are many, many quests in the game where, at
the end, some guy says "Ah, you have completed the quest!" etc.

This does NOT, in and of itself, mean anything.

Quests on BatMUD are seperate, special bits of code that are related to, but
not part of, the items, monsters, and rooms involved. They have their own
special little variables involved, and keep track of their own things. The
only _proof_ that you have done the quest is the special message that happens
when you do _any_ quest, not anything additional said/written when you do the
last piece.

Let me give a hypothetical example. An elf in the forest says to Player A "my
harp is missing! I think the orcs got it! Please return it!" Player A knows he
has the combat ability of a slightly wet cocker spaniel -- better than a
merchant, but not enough to take out the orcs. So, he hires Player B, who hits
like a semi-truck, has armour like a Sherman tank, and can knock over small
buildings by belching at them. A short time later, Player B gives the harp to
Player A and starts picking bits of orc out of his boot treads. Player A gives
the harp to the elf, who says "Oh thank you! Here is a reward!" and gives
Player A shoes of +prancing. However, the "Congratulations!" message does not
go off, because it turns out, the quest code was checking who killed the orc
with the harp, and Player A wasn't involved. This does not mean the quest is
bugging, even though Player A did the last part, got a reward, and a "thank
you" message.

So how can you tell the difference? Well, if you solo the quest -- and that
means no help at all, including buying things in stores -- and don't get the
message, is could easily be a bug. In all other circumstances, especially with
older quests, the lack of "Congrats" could go either way. Just remember that
quests have hidden parts very often. It would be in your best interest to ask
an online, active, sober^H^H^H^Hresponsible wiz who takes an interest in such
things to check the quest log to see what went wrong. Era and I are good
people to ask first, and while I can't speak for Era, I'm always willing to
check a quest out. I like quests, I think they make BatMUD great, and if
they're not working, I'll fix them. But the more information you bring to us
about what you did and did not do, the easier it will be for us to figure out
why you didn't get the "congrats" message. Just keep that in mind.
