D was probably the smartest guy in your example. Bamboo doesn't move in
particularly large quantities, so with the amounts that A and B had for sale
it was unlikely that any other merchants would make a sale for months if they
a price that was guaranteed to sell fast. Now if D offerred something like
50 kg, I would agree...not to bright. But A and B were definitely not smart
by putting up such a large volume of material. Except for those few mats
which move in quantity, offerring up 90+ kg of something almost begs another
merchant to come in lower because that is the only way they will make any
sales whatsover.
