Why? Well, that would be fast way to inform ss members
example incomin eq parties or such. And since there
are these eq pools, news group would be fast way to
inform ALL members about points, eq in pool and stuff
like that.

And i'm thinkin it should cost some amount of gold so we
wont have n+100 channels buggin mud, shrug i dont know
would it be a problem.

While waiting for such system you could use www-pages and build external
news group / eqpool system yourself.

Simple web-based eqpool system with message board is
about 1500 lines of Python (or PHP). Every mudder has a network
connection and a browser so they should have no trouble accessing it.

Or if you don't know how to code one, you could use static www-pages.

Society members could then place a link to that www-page on their
desktop and easily see the latest info and messages when needed.
