Overcoming a trees basic fear of fire should be nearly impossible to do.
However, stripping them totally of a regen source seems to be a little
harsh to all the tree-huggers. Perhaps some pain-in-the-ass, nearly
impossible to do ranger quest could be added. Upon completion the ranger
(as a protector of the forests) would be recognized as a forestfriend
and thus be trusted enough to bring fire into the forest. Ents entering
a room with a fire started by a forestfriend would recognize them and not
stomp the fire. Of course, ents entering a room and seeing a fire started by
a forestfriend with noone around would cause the firestarter to lose the
status.

Hm, as far as I recall, all of us rl people are afraid of being burned by a
fire too.:) And if I'm afraid of a big camp fire, i'm not gonna go stomp it
out with my foot.:) But whatever, it's however the wizzes wanna make the game
work. It's kinda pointless trying to rationalize why the talking tree poeple
fear fire, while the flying fairies and 4 armed monkeys don't.:)

Dude, you are making a RL comparison between "you" a 6ft human, and a HUGE
mutha fucking ent.... and on top of tthat it is a huge ent that exists in the
memory of a computer stomping out a fire which also existing in the mempory of
a computer... and on top of all that ents dont even exist. since they dont
exist, we can create whatever rules we want. perhaps the bottom of an ents
foot has evolved over time to be 100% impervious to fire. perhaps the fire on
batmud is only 23 degrees c and whenever ANY thing that is not composed of ent
flesh comes within 1 cm of it, it spontaneously heats up to 400 degrees... or
maybe their is a small magical field surrounding the foot of the ent that can
extinguish a fire.

Maybe even still the ents foots excreetes water whenever it is the presence of
fire. Maybe the ents stomps tjhe fire and gets burned but then spontaneously
regenerates the damages because of small woodland fairies that are nearby
casting a healing spell.

Or maybe the fire never existed in the first place, and only the ent has the
inner perception to realize this and by stomping it out it causes all the
races nearby to perceive this non existence.

Or maybe the ent isnt even stomping out the fire, perhaps he conjur's up an
entire fire brigade they extinguish the fire, then dissappear in a puff of
logic while the ent also exudes a cloud of psycadelic gas that only makes you
hallucinate that the ent stomped out the fire.

And the summary of my post is this:

Deal.
