There was some talk about casting spells without enough SP some time ago. I
thought about it for a while and formulated my own version:
If you could cast a spell while not having enough SP for it it would of course
need some negative points into it. You could for instance pay double the SP
amount for the spell and maybe take some damage too due to "channeling forces
beyond your capacity".
The HP-loss could, for example, be the percentage equal to the spells sp-cost
versus you spmax, so if you had more SP, hence more capability in "handling
magical energies" and whatnot, casting a spell while not having enough SP for
it wouldnät tax your body so much etc...
And a limiter would of course be needed, maybe you could only cast a spell if
you had, say, 50% of the required SP for it so you couldn't abuse it, skip
your regen-breaks and use a tarm for blasting etc.
Think it over, just my two lubed fists.

OK... How about reducing stats temporarily, depending on how far into the negative spectrum you end up going. A bit like ress/rais/nb effects, but on WIS/INT. This could be handy in an emergency (say, teleporting out of a tough spot with not enough SP), but nasty if you do it by accident during normal game play. Also, increase the chance of a fumble.
It shouldn\'t be as easy and carefree as going to negative EPs.
You could of course implement the same system for EPs, reducing STR/CON temporarily if you go too low when using a skill.
