First of all, there are no other games, there is only BatMUD.
However, if there were other games, I'd bet that you could not guarantee
yourself a specific item like you can here. Items in here are distributed far
less randomly than in other game-like systems. This is why the bonuses stack.
If you want maximum +fire resistance, it will take you several days to find
the appropriate items. It isn't as simple as saying "I know the ogre down the
road has a ring of Ionlytakehalf fire damage", getting that one item, and
calling it a day.
Then there's the problems involved in item storage. While space is not nearly
as limited as it was before, getting a +max resistance set of every single
damagetype BatMUD has (we have 9) takes up a lot of valuable room. Let's
pretend that for every damage type, there were 9 different +max resisance
items. (There isn't). That's 11 and a half small sailor chests for resistance
alone.
So, the resistances are low because the bonuses stack and you know the items
before you find them, and there isn't enough room to store them all. I hope
that answers your question.
