Now that Nav Trees are a thing of the past, maybe a nav system that is
correlated with city portals could be considered. The basic idea is for the
city shop to sell several items that are specific to that city (or maybe sold
in the portal) that would let the player (memeber of the city) that buys the
item take it to a location in the outworld and stick it in the ground and give
it a name to mark the location. The portal in that city would then have a
gateway to that location until boot. At boot, all of the gateways would reset
and have to be set again. This would take money out of the game and improve
navigation for some non-nav players. Plus, one possible side effect of course
with anything it Batmud would be that if other players find the object stuck
in the ground that they could pick it up and move it to another location. And
of course it would be a one-way trip from the city portal to the marked
location.
