in reply to your ever so insightful post, the Bat central committee wishes
to state the following:
We are indeed communist. We are proud to be communist. We share the fruits
of our labour - this game - for free with whoever wants to take part in it.
We try to answer questions if we can, just as we hope you assist your fellow
comrade when he is in trouble. We believe that through the efforts of many,
the BatMUD society becomes better and stronger. We believe that watching
others respect and enjoy the work we have created is sufficient gratitude
for the time we spend.
We abhor capitalism. We have not outsourced the development of BatMUD to
cheap labour coders from India. We do not charge monthly fees so we can
drive around in new ferraris. We hope that even students with very modest
budgets can take part in our community because it's free. We have not
setup call-centers in third-world countries, charging you $9.95 per call
whenever you have a question - we try to listen when you have a problem.
The upper management of Bat does not have stock options or incentives that
tempt us to buy accounting services from Arthur Andersen. We do not strive
to maximize profits, rather to maximize the enjoyment. We do not fund
overseas renegade groups to overthrow governments so that we can buy
cheaper oil or make our friends richer ad infinitum.
Fellow comrades! Let's fly the red banner of BatMUD high and unite in a
song of unison among the workingclass!
