Biggest reason I personally aren't very keen on exploring new areas is big
blocking following aggro monsies out there. I've tried few times but always
that exploring session is ended by some such monster, always. No warnings
about nearby biggies, no plaques or signs telling about dangers and no much of
a skills to examine rooms and dangers from a distance.
To fix this situtation and encourage players to explore more I propose much
lower lev requirements for enhanced peer skill and somekind of consider-skill
attached to it so that we could at least know something about that monsie
before throwing ourselves in. Like size, speed, mood, etc. As it is now, I
don't know, newbies get saving throws against ambushes to accomplish this same
goal but I don't think that's the right way or nearly enough to address this
issue.
