Out of curiousity I would like to know if the players feel there even is an EQ
rape problem? Do you think do? Or do you hear the admins say there is an EQ
rape problem and therefore there must be so you propose alternative solutions
to the problem in order to change the solution(s) that may or may not be
implemented...

I guess my point, is personally, I don't quite see the EQ rape problem myself
and I admit I am so far removed from this game that I have no clue about day
to day playing anymore...

That being said, perhaps the real problem is that even mediocre EQ is quite
difficult to get. Therefore, it is not worth doing mediocre EQ at all. So
you are left in a situation where either you have the BEST eq or no eq at all.

Additionally, what is so bad about a newbie having some eq he could never
possibly get? The economy of batmud works as follows (more or less):

- Highbies can do money or EQ
- Lowbies can do only money
- Midbies can do only money and extremely limited amounts of utterly crappy eq

Therefore, lowbies/midbies do money over and over because it is easy to do and
can be done in short intervals (without playing a 9 hour session).

And highbies that have the time to play 9 hours choose to rape eq over and
over because it is more interesting and they can sell the eq to the
low/midbies (who can earn the money).

Additionally, highbies that dont have time to do marathin sessions of batmud
are left doing exp and money.

At first glance I dont exactly see the problem here myself. Without this
simple chain of events you are left with nearly zero economy in batmud. From
a player point of view, I can see how it could be quite boring in this system
but that is not currently the point (I dont think anyone has once mentioned
fun factor when discussing eq rape)

This is my view on things, and I am just curious what players think "EQ" rape
does to harm the overall mud. I would guess the answer is "EQ rape causes
downgrades" and that is probably true.

Ok so you made it this far or you just skipped to the end, so I'll throw out
my long ago proposed solution to the problem that may not exist, and that is
to increase EQ damage significantly, removed "ancient" eq status, lower the
difficulties required in obtaining eq quite a bit. Make "crappy" eq (+1 to 3
stat bonus for example) an awfully lot easier to get. But at any rate, I
honestly dont see the problem and maybe I am just blind.... btw: just my
thoughts as I dont involve myself with batmud enough these days to do much
more than talk about the situation :)
