First of all, I don't think there has been any real problem with "eq raping"
after the latest tune where eqs with your own name don't break. When people
get an item they need from a monster, and when they don't need anything from a
certain monster anymore, there is no need to go do it again really. And I
haven't seen any "highbie" party doing any real/semi-real eq monsters just so
they could sell the stuff lately. Actually not once after that tune. And if
you have paid attention to the sales channel, really good items are not sold
anymore. Some rare items appear on sales only when some very desperate highbie
needs reinc money etc

EQ raping was actually at it's worst in the short period when all items took
permanent damage. Then people knew their items will break eventually, what
happened was that everybody wanted either a "spare" set, or, they wanted to
use items that weren't that valuable or that were very durable. This of course
caused a huge rush to monsters with such items.
