I dreamed I was swimming in chocolate, and I could sell books found in the
outerworld to high level players for large sums of money. If the idea of a
book raising skills/spells were to be implemented, at best it they would offer
a fixed amount of exp towards the skill. This would have to be done to prevent
a sliding scale of value based on user's skill level. This could be
implemented 2 ways, fixed rate of say 1000 exp raises skill 0 to several
points based on players current skill cost, any remaining exp is unused. This
means if I need 200k or even 1001 for dodge, 1k exp dodge book won't do
anything. If my costs is 900 exp, I gain a point and 100 exp is lost. Second
implementation would save any unused exp and discount next skill purchase. Not
likely because of the major code involved.
Lastly, it's not that great of an idea. I dreamed I saw items in a plethora
of other computer games that did exactly the same thing but in a mannor that
simply couldn't be balanced in batmud.
