Once upon a time there were two dragonslayers, Ordinary-Joe
and David "The Dragonbane".
They were equally adept in killing dragons and obtaining the dragontail
from the carcass. However, Ordinary-Joe had a family to raise and could
only kill one dragon per day, while Dave would have ten dragontails every day.
Each week Dave would sell 70 dragontails to the local merchant while Joe
would only sell 7.
A Deity of the world saw that Dave was making 63 more dragontails than Joe
each week and decided to make the situation more even for Joe by putting
an enchantment on dragontails. The first dragontail obtained after sunrise
would be magically duplicated!
Now, Joe would have 14 dragontails each week!
Alas, the magic was too hastily crafted and it affected Dave as well.
By the end of the week Dave had 77 dragontails and Joe 14, the difference
being the same 63 as before the enchantment.
Needless to say, Dave still prospered equally fast compared to Joe, but on
top of that the dragontail economy was swamped and everyone suffered.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Dave knows his business, so he does not need help.
Joe is the one who needs help, because he has a family to raise.
