Luckily, we have two new archwizards, who probably will bring some freshness
to the way the game is being developed.
And now most of the highbies say 'yea right, Shinarae & Shardik,
bwahahahahaha' (Not out loud though, they have read their helpfiles of whim
removal and archwizards being always right). A message to them: THINK AGAIN.
Shardik has been around for ages (that gives some weight to the worries about
freshness, though

, but afaik he has also played a mortal character at later
times and quite much, so he actually probably HAS A CLUE on things like tuning
- unlike most of the players who have wizzed at low mortal level and earned
all their wiz levels by coding the 'background stuff'. (No offence meant to
anyone and not directed to anyone personal.)
Shinarae has actually contributed so much to the game that it was about the
time he was made an arch - most of the highbies just shun him because he has
made some tuning mistakes in the past, but we must trust that he has learned
from his mistakes.
Ok this one starts to sound too much of asslicking, but I will continue a bit
further still.
Despite all the criticism in my posts - BatMUD is still a very, very good game
- I would play it actively if there wasn't World of Warcraft - which (sadly)
IS a better game to play for me. Now you start thinking that I've been blinded
by cool special effects and nice night elf girls.
This is not the case - graphics etc has nothing to do with it - it is just the
fact that it is way more rewarding for a casual player.
Having said that, I really really wish that people would stop seeing WoW and
other games as competitors to BatMUD, but as a source of ideas how to improve
this game.
Just because an idea is not your own or it is old, doesn't mean that the idea
itself is bad or unsuitable to batmud.
Ok, as a final thought to these posts; We know what makes BatMUD/World of
Warcraf/Tetris/soccer/<your favourite game here> a good game. You cannot
change WoW or rules of football to combine all the good things, but there is
one game you can develop by combining the good things from various good games,
and I'm not talking about tetris here...
