Jesus duke, youve met glaurung in real life and theres any question about him
being a bastard!!!??? Come on!! :DDD PS i loved gores post made a lot of
sense, and i think the two things that will do a LOT to help this mud is 1)
assigning sometime in the future an american arch/player/friend whatever to
actively promote batmud in the online gaming community here. 2) more
innovative strategies about eq policing including all the things that gore
said but also maybe making more "lowbie" kinda eq stuff like hunters rings,
blue gloves, that kinda thing. Seems every wizard has to make the "BEST
SUFFELI FOR THAT SLOT" eq or turbo mob. Sure its fun to see your mob shout
but i think there needs to be more "midlvl" crap that highbies can sell and
that will bridge the gap in the midbie eq power range. Right now all that
midbie crap sells for jack and shit, because theres so much good stuff around.
Also i think more coders need to concentrate on quests/eq for us soloers out
there. I know this is supposedly a "party" mud but i dont think it needs to
be and theres a lot of regular soloers...more damien style quests and areas
would be really appreciated i think..anyways..too bed...keep up the good work
and posting..
I try to make my eq as bad as possible, so players choose my areas as a last
option when everything else has been raped.

If that post was a stupid comeback to the request to make more lowbie eq, then
I'm quite disappointed that we have such closed-minded wizzes in this game.
There are people who do play the game, and who do make+use small equipment. It
may not be many, partially because there is a shortage of items, but I
personally make use of much of the eq that others don't bother with. There are
a number of us casual players who play an hour or two a day, and don't
necessarily want to buy stuff...it's fun to find+try the little monsters. Well
over half my eqset that I use for casting is from eq that I've made in parties
with fellow 30-70M players...RoW, dirty leggings, dahbec crown, toad talisman,
ww amulet, oysteria ring, shimmering spherical amulet, etc.

Making my own eq with friends is quite fun, but also tough to find a good
variety of things. The small stuff seems to be biased towards casterish
things, and there seems to be a shortage of many of the slots. From what I've
seen in sales, much of the low-level eq is stuff that needs to be killed to
get to big monsters; in that case, yeah, the eq may go to waste. But why not
code some interesting things that simply won't be useful to highbies, are
killable by mid/lowbies, and still have some (if not optimal) value? If you go
with the attitude I interpereted in the post above, then all eq will flow into
the game from the top players, and will exaggerate the problem with only top
players being able to do eq...

I've made plenty of lowbie eqs during the years, it is however never done by
lowbies (even if they could do it). Go and try to find some eq at renardy for
example. That there is no lowbie eqs is not true, its just a general slack
attitude that prevents you from doing it. The problem is that the slack
attitude comes from the fact that it is easier to solo cash and buy better eqs
from highbies that rape harder eq monsters.

And no, I never read any posts carefully. Not even those that I reply too.

And how do you suggest newbies get to renardy? I'm guessing not too many
newbies own a boat, or can afford the one-way ship-summonings just to
get the random newbie-eqs mostly worth raceshrine (with few exceptions).

Yeah ok that was a bad example maybe. It however has some relevance, since
that area has been in the game for like 4 years and still not that many
newbies has even tried to do eq there. The core of the problem is that some
players play way too much and thats the reason for the unbalanced eq
situation.
You do exp and kill monsters that can be considered eq monsters for newbies.
One way to solve it is maybe to reduce the exp worth for monsters with eq. I
remember myself doing eq as a newbie and that worked for me. I dont know, but
I dont think that this game has gotten that MUCH harder since then (1995).

I won't discuss this anymore. I dont do any tunes, I'm not up to date anymore
with game and I don't code. I still think that I'm a little bit less
responsible for unbalanced eq monsters than coders in general.

A newbie ferry to renardy is a good idea I guess:)
