About soloers:

The existing rules for eq are based on parties. True, a player of Glaurung's
power can solo some of the easier eq monsters, but that's about it. He
probably wouldn't want the eq for anything other than sacrificing or sales
channel either.

This is because almost every area in the game is party friendly. Sine, for
example, Smokey the Bear can be reached by a party of 9, we more or less have
to assume he will be. That's why Onog sucks, unless you're level 20 or so.

THe alternative is to have areas specifically made for solo work. Such are
very, very rare. Sewer ring is just about it. And the sewer ring is much
better than eq a party of the same level would get from the same amount of
effort. So why don't we make more solo areas? Well...we could, but the idea is
problematic. If I were to, say, make a copy of newbie mines that allowed only
one player at a time, but had usable lvl 20-30 eq in it, it would have a
constant line to get in. FIghts might start to get in next. It would feel
like a bit of a waste in a MUD (what does the M stand for?) to make an area
only one person could use.

Now, maybe later, someone will make a copy of newbie mines with eq for solo in
such a way that more than one person could use it at a time -- multiple
copies, for example. I didn't say that, I deny everything, who are you people?

I'm gunning more for solo quests than eq. If, say, there was a piece of eq
that had some value to me or others my level that could be gotten solo, here's
what would happen. One-getting to the mob before anyone else would be the
near impossible. Two-Highbies would rape it for the exp/sac value. That brings
us to the eq raping and the bitching that's going on with it. Just so I'm
clear, people are raping eq mobs, the eq is flooding the market, causing the
price of the eq to drop while boosting the power of noobs-midbies because
they're buying the eq, and thus, shifting the power. Okay, let's look at the
guys who bitch that certain eq mobs are too easy. I'll promise you that for
every easy eq mob this person is bitching about there's one that's 'too hard'
that they never try. Such is life. Now, lets look at this money/power shift
and the blah that goes with it. If the game's impossible without eq, and the
current system is that highbies make eq, everyone else runs around killing
no-eq mobs to make money/exp, and then buys the eq, so they can eventually
start doing eq mobs and become majestic highbies...where's the problem? Seems
like a pretty smooth system. The way I see it, the system's only flaw is that
there's nothing for the uber high ups to do so they nit-pick. I could be
wrong, but I'm probably not too far off the mark here. Want to fix it? Make a
highbie world, where you get teleported after saying 'i'm bored' to mortis.
You'll have to have x amount of days and x amount of experience, and once in
this world, your eq disappears and you have new uber skills and a whole new
world to explore and whatnot in. Otherwise, you'll have to SHATTER the
current eq system, which flows pretty good for 90% of us.
