Isn't it sort of boring using the same skills day in day out? There are very
little situational skills in the game. For a barbarian
its bcry, lure, strike, strike, strike, strike.. for a ranger its bfury,
bfury, bfury, bfury etc. Gets kind of boring soon. There
could be skills that are more situational and the damage depends on various
other factors. ie Skills that do 100% damagetype of the
weapon, skills that do 100% physical, skills that do more damage when a mob is
in good or bad shape, Skills that are somehow reactive
to what your target does. If you hit the skill when they are casting, it might
do more damage, if you hit a skill to a fleeing mob
you could just hack him down from behind as he flees/tries to flee etc.
I understand that there are some situational skills, or skills which receive a
bonus according to a certain situation, but there
could be much more of these. I'm sure a nomadtank would be much more fun to
play if you had some incentive to follow the game
instead of just watching your strike-trigger to all the work.
Just to chime in with my 2-cents, this idea is something that I would love to
see in the game. I have brought it up in the past in various ways, and if
done correctly it wouldn't have to change the battle mechanics too much to add
a LOT more of an element of stratedgy (yes I know i can't spell) to the game.
The original hack-and-robot techniques would still work, but you would be able
to do things more efficiently perhaps, if one utilized the right 'blend' of
skills and spells per situation.
To take it a step slightly farther, different guilds could even more accuratly
work with each other, almost like how catfolk have that party bonus, certian
guilds whose 'role play' elements matched might take advantage of situations
in a different way. With the new world maps the way they are, and the growth
that has been announced to add various elements to each continent, Glaurung's
idea could really be a move in the right direction.
I don't post about stuff often, but I felt the need to chime in here, this
idea really needs a look. I have some ideas I would love to expand on, if
anyone (wiz or mortal) is interested in hearing them.
