The goal has never been to screw anybody. I know it was a new idea to
BatMUD, that travelling between continents and whatnot would take some
time. But we are certainly not the first game where it has been
implemented that travel is not instantaneous. Virtually all mmorpg's
and several MUDs include travel time for several reasons:
- It gives an appearance of distance between the locations
- It has an impact on PvP situations (you don't get to your enemy
in a heartbeat)
- It has an impact on PvE situations where ressers/merchants may not
be available at 1 second notice.
Obviously there are players who are hellbent that everything should
be like it always was, and that all travel should be instant. But I
fail to see the logic of why non-instant travel works on all the other
games but would be an impossibility here. Seems to me like it's just
a matter of people not giving it a chance.

Most of the mmo-games let you keep your eq and position when you log out, in
batmud logging out in your favorite place just gets you less precious eq to
stress abotu and a free ticket to startloc=/
