I'll try that rational argument. Here goes: what I have seen happening over
the years is the progressive 'watering down' of this mud when it comes to
guilds/events/player power/pkill/nasty stuff etc. It has some merits in
certain cases of course, but as stuff gets progressively easier, players get
progressively softer. As players get softer, they expect things to be easier.
When they're not for some reason, they keep asking for them to be easier,
until they're tuned as such. This leads to more of the aforementioned
'watering down' of this mud which is a self-strengthening cyclical phenomenon.
The games needs new players, new players don\'t come to a game thinking I\'m
going to have many hours to spend learning and failing. So the game needs to
become more welcoming to the casual player. To do this, the game needs to
soften which it has. But this still leaves a Ton to do and a Ton of difficult
stuff.
If the game isn\'t difficult enough for you, there are several self imposed
options, try having it so you can\'t repair eq, or that you don\'t accept
ress\'s praying each time you die - in effect creating your own little HC bat
inside bat.
I don\'t see why things being more difficult is benificial to the mud when it
seems like most players think things are difficult enough.
I\'ve spent enough time watching a mud die - Complete with it\'s group of
ancient players who knew where everything was, reminising about the glory
days.
I think Bat is heading in the right direction, it won\'t last for ever, but
it\'ll last longer. Keep up the good work.
