I\'m surprised to see the event-whines in the news-groups as of late.
As far as I can tell, most, if not all of them are originating from players
who has been around even longer than myself. You are just lazy. The only
effect they do have on your gaming, is, they add an unpredictable variable.
What did this
horrible event do to your gameplay? You lost time on an eq-mob, or 200k exp in
your usual amount of gaming hours.

It is sound to have events that add some variation to the otherwise sterile,
dry and monotonous environment, something not a single mortal cannot control.

You can\'t always kill Yaboz in the minimum amount of time, because sometimes
an event add a factor. You can still chose to continue playing, beat this new
challenge or produce whine-posts. You lazy bastards just chose the latter =)

Go Events! Go!

Some of the complaints were about waste of time. Those ones can be ignored.

The complaints to worry about are the ones that it drives newbies away on a
mud with a shrinking player base. This is a problem. Even bad events should
be fun and not a big F-U NEWBS, you're screwed and can't do anything about
tit! There was the one quote from newbie channel about the guy who logged off
and said he wouldn't be back. How many log off and don't come back without
saying anything?

So make players lower than lvl 40 immune to F-U events. They have plenty to
learn already.

Newbies lower than 40? Man, there are less than 5 of those on at peak hours.
Make it 'newbies under 60 or 75' maybe? Although, in that case we have a
problem of how to define a newbie in a world that has way much exp and way few
levels..

Maybe F-U events are the reason for so few newbies? And imo that 40 would be
high enough. They\'ve already gotten used to at least running away from mobs,
or even killin them. The main point (again, imo) is that the people logging on
the first time wouldn\'t think it\'s always like that.

And F-U-2 for the one assigning clones on fri-sat night.

Oh, give me a break. Once in a month events are the reason for no newbies.
I'll go die in the corner now.

Gotrek, I think you missed the point. The complaints aren't about _a_ bad
event, they are about running four bad events at the same time. One negative
event is fun. Two negative events at the same time is a pain. Three negative
events at the same time is an excellent reason to do something else for the
evening.

Which events are you talking about here? There are only so many events
that really affect gameplay. Ep-eater affects a bit, but it's not too
bad really, magic-eater sure, but have you bothered to find out the
new rewards from it, well worth killing... But then, the third and
fourth. Lets see, mosquitos and shoprobber?

I wonder how much of the whine comes from the fact that the last
event-spree was so uncommon, now with the most events being run
automatically, we really haven't had any serious piles of events
for a while, so you're just overcompensating...
