The KoL guys have a radio show, and one of the things they talk about
sometimes is how nothing seems less random to players than truly random
results. If some particular random event happens thousands or more times a
day, some players are mathematically guaranteed to come up tails ten or twenty
times in a row and post flames about how the random number generator is
fuxored. The more truly random stuff a game has, the worse the problem gets,
and they do massive amounts of code to hugely bias events to become more
likely if they haven't happened recently.
