Boons are always a divisive issue. It rarely soothes the have-nots to point
out that they make the game possible, because of course no one without boons
likes to see "boons required to join this eq ss" posts. And some wishbabies
don't react well when having donated the cost of 10-20+ retail games to the
organization they're said to have an unfair advantage.
I've never seen one solution to the "boon problem" get a good reception. The
closest thing I ever see to a bare majority of players agreeing on is when
people suggest that very low tp players get more tps for bug reports. And for
some reason that idea pisses off wizards more than threatening to kill their
dog. I never quite figured out why. Maybe somehow it costs them something to
give out tps, and we mortals just assume that greater benevolence to the poor
would come at no more effort than typing in a different number.
My advice: Don't suggest "make it buyable with lots and lots of exp"
solutions, anyone who reads the news should know that those ideas are NEVER
implemented, now matter how crazily expensive you suggest it be. Instead, just
work at some McJob for a little while. Even the crappiest paying job
imaginable* would give a much better better tp-per-hour ratio than grinding
exp to spend on them.
*Excluding jobs in places where wage-slavery is more than a term used by
office workers.
Dunno about bigger scale, but in zombiemud they decided to give 5 tps for each
lvl player has, just to balance playing between people with money and without.
You can do the rest of math, which makes everyone winner, for what i think.
Giving players more tps if they have less is kind of already in place, as the
first boon is cheaper than the next one. So please do not give out tps
according to how many that person already has.
Instead of trying to figure out how to make it easier to get tps, how about
you just buy them with batcash. I did that, and I think a few others have done
that aswell, it's not impossible. Granted, I've donated 50e in support for
this great game aswell, but it got me nowhere near the 800 tps that I now
have.
So please, try a merchant reinc, do some cashmobs, it really isn't impossible
to get boons just by playing.
Though if you're going to try getting tps from wizards, I suggest you learn
which ones actually give them for reporting bugs and concentrate on those
people:)
If you ask me, what's the point of having boons and TPs if we give them for
"free"? TPs are a reward for players who keep this game running financially.
Why would those people have no advantage, when they spend their hard-earned
cents on their hobby?
If you think that boons imbalance the game too much and you want some other
means to "boost" your character, it can be discussed, like, introduce
something TP-like, but not TPs, that would be available to everyone at some
crazy prices and whatnot, but people who donate will always be slightly more
"boosted" than those that don't.
TPs are always a tender topic, causing much debates, and if you want other
measures to boost the characters and increase diversity - sure, come on out
with your ideas, but please leave TPs and people who have them alone.

I'd like to suggest that you continue reporting accordingly to those people
who are in charge of stuff. It will make things a lot easier. If the awards
for reportin bugs are not standardized enough, then that's probably another
issue to be viewed and to be discussed.
