So you are chosen to compete against 9 other people. All ten of you are locked
in a standard Home Depot, that is dark except the emergency lights above the
exits. The goal is to kill one another to become the last man standing, last
person alive gets to leave.
You are allowed to choose 3 pieces of equipment to aid you. Anything with a
bar-code counts as one piece of equipment, for example, if you choose a nail
gun, then a container of nails will be needed, so that would equal two pieces
of equipment. You can use only the equipment you choose, no scalping from dead
guys.
What three weapons would you choose, and what would be your strategy?
i dont know what home depot is in finland....but us north americans should
have fun with this!
Hmmm....I think I'd choose a wrecking bar, a portable set of floodlights,
and a 50 foot extension cord. The wrecking bar, well, you can wreck
some shit with it. The lights and extension cord, well i think like
this. Since you will be in semi-darkness, set up an ambush point
with the floodlights, close your eyes tight, and plug them in.
instant blindness. Also the extension cord could do double duty as
a rope for a tripwire, or strangulation.
1) the longest crowbar in the store
2) an eight-pack of light bulbs
3) a gallon of water
Immediately climb the shelves and get behind some of the heavy boxes on the
top shelf. Throw the first four light bulbs down onto the floor on both sides.
Wait for the sound of crunching glass below, then use the crowbar to push the
heavy boxes onto the crunching sound.
If no crunching sounds happen, wait indefinitely. I am pretty sure nobody
picked 2 gallons of water so I should be able to outlast everyone who doesn't
come looking for me.
After taking out 4 competitors, move to the next shelf over (standing on the
boxes I dropped, not the floor) and repeat.

Shinarae Lluminus
I think Shin is cheating here; the rules specifically say you can only use the
items you "buy" as weapons...it seems to me that dropping boxes on people is
using those boxes...

So I thought long and hard about this today, and came up with this:
One of the best and most effective weapon delivery systems of enclosed warfare
is in fact the air, which has long been used by Law Enforcement agencies and
Chemical Warfare units as a quick and effective way of suppressing the enemy.
Because of building, health, and fire codes, such warehouse locations like
Home Depot are equipped with huge fan systems that turn over the air within
the building in a rather short period of time. So I will choose my ingredients
as such.
1) Muriatic Acid - An aqueous solution of hydrogen chlorine gas commonly used
in the swimming pool industry to control the pH of a pool.
2) Chlorine - A popular aqueous or gaseous disinfectant used in the swimming
pool industry.
Both of these chemicals are sold and stored in large quantities, undiluted for
dispense in various quantities to the end-user. Typically used in swimming
pools, they either break down when they are added to water or break down as a
result of a reaction with ultraviolet sunlight. Since we are neither
underwater or outside (as Home Depot is lit by commercial indoor lighting),
neither of these safeguards would be present.
3) MSA Safety Works Advantage 420 Pro Respirator
When combined, substances 1 & 2 will produce chlorine gas. Even at
low-concentration levels, it will irritate mucous membranes such as the nose,
mouth, throat, etc. to cause irritation and inflammation, making it difficult
to breathe. At higher levels, it can cause nausea, vomiting, and even death.
Combined with the already-present air circulation system, the gas would spread
quite quickly, preventing most people from being able to see or breath.
Protected by the respirator, I would protected until a relatively high level
of concentration in the air. As people would succumb to the effects of the
gas, I would be quite easily able to take them down using my superb martial
arts skills, rendering them unconscious through hand-to-hand combat, left to
lie on the ground and die as the chlorine gas corrodes away at their lungs and
internal organs.
