So my sunuvabitch friend got me into one of those addictive f2p gem match
games. Admittedly it's a relatively well designed game but i've passed the
initial euphoria stage and fallen into the long term grind.

The only reason i'm playing this instead of Bat is that my characters were
becoming a bit too familiar and i figured i needed a bit of a break. Normally
this would be the time to reinc but It's just not a mechanic i ever enjoyed.
I like prolonging the euphoria period as long as possible.. so building exp
up from scratch and redoing the quests and tasks that i've somewhat forgotten.

Rebirth is another option but it's at the expense of your previous efforts...
again not a thing i'm looking for. I may be bored with my characters now but
there is still a lot I can do with them.

I'm curious if anyone has a reason for allowing only 1 alternate. I find in
playing, the biggest hassle is learning a particular players different
character names but that's hardly a major issue. Any abuse that could be
be done by having 2 alternates seems to be possible with 1.

There's also the argument that once you open the door.. the next demand will
be for 3,4 and more alternates. But again, Is this an issue?

At any rate. looking for a discussion and a reason to stop matching gems.

Totally unrelated.. we could use a few more people in my guild in gems of

I hate you soooo much.

You don't want to rebirth because you will lose progress but have you
considered you
can ONLY PLAY one character at a time? So you will lose progress on your main
character REGARDLESS simply because you are playing a different one.

How is that different than what you describe? Gonna play 4 characters and each
one of them is half-assed?

In essence, i'm not a power gamer. I don't care if i have 3 midbie characters
as opposed to 1 highbie character. I've done a lot with both my main and my
alt but i don't think i'm sick of either one. The only reinc i've done was
when a build obviously didn't work. Even then, i ended up taking Merchant
again when i saw i had the option.

I play solo generally because i don't care if i half-ass a couple characters
as long as i'm enjoying myself.. though i'll help other players when i can.

I know long term players have a hard time with this.. It's just a different
gaming style. It's also why i have almost the same amount of time in both
my primary and secondary.

Not trying to rock the boat.. I think allowances have already been made
to cater to both types of players. Ultimately it's better to have more people
playing in any style.
