Just thought id refrain from spamming Ideas wanted forum and expand upon
the idea here. The basic plan is to categorize pre-existing tasks into
certain professions. Once enough tasks of a certain category have been
completed, the player is invited to do work.. in a field, or train as an
apprentice in that profession.
Job - Privateer
- initial job - kill 5 sailors
The premise here is that youre working for one specific continent to cleanse
their waters of dastardly pirates. Of the top of my head, this would work
well to introduce or force players to play around with certain ship features
that they might be unaware of. Benefits to be determined.. possibly a quick
follow feature for random ships?
-Potential jobs.

Kill pirates in pirate areas. (redtide,VotK nasty harbour)
Sink ships with cannon.

Any number of desperate men have found that in this world, there are many
to be preyed upon. This profession encompasses all those who kill helpless
villagers for profit. Profession keeps track of -villagers killed- maybe gives
a means to sell loot.

You are a soldier of fortune, a fighter who sells his services to the
highest bidder. You roam towns and cities in search of a place where your
unique set of talents are useful; whether for a lord hunting a group of
bandits, or a local barkeep tired of the goblin infestation in his cellar,
you can always find some work if you look hard enough. The job itself
should not matter much for a person like you, at least that is what others
believe. Therefore, other less admirable and shunned upon jobs sometimes
arrives at your lap, giving you the choice and the problem of figuring a
way to compromise between your ethics and your job.
possible tasks-
kill 5 soldiers
scout.
provide weapons.
similar to Raiders, but with generally military targets.
You get the general idea. There are any number of professions that can
be triggered by daily tasks, but should open up a number of related tasks
with the long term grind of giving benefits in that particular field. Amateur
crafting would potentially give someone access to a skill to a limited degree
outside of their milieu.
