Not sure how useful this is, but just thinking that instead of sometimes
writing the target's name, you could use also target's race (talking about
players). Like, instead of typing and targetting Ranma, you'd type look at
drow. And if more drows or ducks or whatever, you'd look at drow 1, drow 2,
duck 1, duck 2, etc. Just a thought.
The major problem with this idea is the way order is established in a room.
The last thing to enter the room is the "first" object in the room. This
means if you are in an area that is full of giants and one of your tanks also
happens to be a giant, every time you enter a room and type cast xxx at giant
you will hit your tank with the spell. Furthermore if you are a newbie of the
giant race wandering through some area that happens to have a giant in it that
some highbies are fighting and the mages are aiming their spells at "giant"
you are their new target when you enter the room.
Finally if you combine those two, the smart party knows enough to make sure to
direct their spells at giant 2 since they don't want to hit their own tank,
and now the clueless newbie giant once again wanders in... POW! you hit your
own tank thanks to the newbie who happened to wander in while you were in
combat.
I think you get the point... because of the way targetting and order works
this idea would just cause far too many problems to justify the cool idea of
being able to look at your friend the duck by typing look at duck.
