It also bugs me to code all kinds of cool features when even a 89lvl person
cannot be expected to figure out how to avoid nasties. You can walz right into
the mansion avoiding immolation.
I\'m expending all this information now in news so that people would actually
dare to explore and experiment. Usually wizzes are not implementing big areas
just to piss people off and keep players out of there. Areas these days are
not quite as linear as the ones 10 years ago.
Punishing players who do the \"wrong\" thing while exploring/experimenting with
spells like immolate is exactly the sort of thing that discourages people from
exploring/experimenting.
You're assuming wizards give their monsters spells like immolate or
disintigrate to punish people. Maybe you should change your approach to
exploring: running around mindlessly, killing everything in sight while
exploring is usually not a good approach. Talk to NPCs, read the descriptions,
read quest and area descriptions before you start. There are usually tons of
hints and pointers to what you should do in different areas. Once you've
explored an area it's a lot safer (and for me more rewarding) to run around
and mindlessly slaying everything for exp and cash. Very often monsters who
have those nasty spells aren't meant to be killed. I for one don't wanna see
the game developing into a direction where all risks and hazards are removed
and the road to mindless hack-n'-slash is paved.

Oh please "mindless hack-n'slash"? This game is full of mindless hack n slash,
everytime the same highbies are raping the same eq mobs over and over again,
the same people are forming the parties to repetitively rape the same monsters
its called hack n slash. The road has been paved many years ago. And this
whole 'lets change the map up and give it a little bit of a different spin' is
a way to break the pave? and this one area that is gotten the hype of some
news posts is such an area to break this 'pavement'? Hardly, its an area to be
tested once by a group of highbies and found out that its not worth the hype
that its given. True, its not very hard to read the descriptions or to go
around not killing everything the first time through. But what ever happened
to "shoot first, ask questions later?" Was I somehow not around when the
notion was conceived that there would be no more killing in an area? And why
shouldnt a monster be killed that is in this game? Why shouldnt we be able to
somehow kill something if it is standing in an area that is not a public
monster? Because it might mess up someones quest they are doing? Maybe it
should not be allowed to be attacked if it is for a purpose other than being
killed and 'hacked n slashed'.

Why put it in our grasp if it is not to be killed? Why not put a warning
around? Its things like these that make me angry with certain spots in this
game. If you are a newbie you can make it with the 'I dont know what to
do'-bit and get help from some people. If you are a highbie you can always
resort to asking your dear old highbie friends what they did in that
situation. If you are in the middle you are indeed screwed and there will be
no one to help you, especially if you dont devote 5 hours a day to learning
the areas and every spell that each monster in that area cast. Thank you for
letting me ramble on, and if you finished reading this without rating it
badly, Im only bored of constantly grinding out retarded shit here...
